PREVENTION
The primary focus of this website is to help improve the installation of ceramic and stone tiles. In the US, tile manufacturing and installation standards are developed by accredited committees, approved by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and published  by the Tile Council of North America (TCNA). Manufacturing standards are listed in the ANSI A137.1 booklet while the installation standards are found in the ANSI A108. The TCNA also publishes a practical handbook. The minimum standards found in these booklets are important, but to produce the most durable and attractive work, all aspects of tile installation should be upgraded. This site is here to help you find the right tools, materials, and methods to produce installations of the highest quality, and recognizes that there are no difference in the way a professional and an amateur install tile, so please don't look for ways to cut corners here.

REMEDIATION
Even when properly specified, few tile installations are completed without obstacles, and like any other form of construction, some problems are to be expected. When an undesirable condition persists, or turns into a failure, though, MB&A can help identify the source of the problem and develop a solution.
